We run dockets on paper. Can you still build the reporting?
Yes. Paper dockets are common on civil sites and the first sprint works around them rather than waiting for a digital rollout. Usually a single daily entry captures the docket totals, and the reporting proves its value before anyone is asked to change what happens in the ute. If digitising dockets later makes sense, the reporting carries across unchanged.
Can you use plant telematics, or do we need to enter machine hours manually?
Both work. Telematics feeds from most major machine brands can be exported and joined to the job, which removes manual entry and makes utilisation reporting far more accurate. Where telematics is not fitted or not accessible, operator-recorded hours are used. Mixing the two across a fleet is normal and the reporting handles it.
How do you handle wet weather and standby in the cost reporting?
Separately from productive hours, always. Blending standby into utilisation makes a fleet look busier than it is and hides the cost of waiting. Wet weather days are tracked against the programme as well as the cost, because they usually drive an extension-of-time claim that needs the same evidence.
Does this replace our job costing system?
No. The reporting reads from whatever you use for job costing and does not become a place to enter costs. What it usually replaces is the spreadsheet a project manager or commercial manager rebuilds each week to make the job costing readable.
Can progress claims be reconciled against surveyed quantities?
That is one of the most requested views. Claimed quantities against surveyed quantities against programme, on one page, makes over- and under-claiming visible early. It depends on the survey data being available in a structured form — which it usually is, even when it currently only exists as a series of exports.
How long does the first civil reporting pack take?
One to two weeks for a single view such as plant utilisation or cost-to-complete on one job. Three to six weeks for the full weekly pack across the portfolio. The variable is usually how consistent job and cost coding is between the accounting system and the site paperwork.
